Former Women's Rugby Star has agreed to help Rhayader RFC out on their 'Welcome To Women's Rugby' training evening.
Jackie Sampson who played 62 times for Wales Women's Rugby Team has agreed to take the role of coach for the much anticipated Women's Rugby Training Evening to be held at Rhayader Rugby Club, next Thursday at 7pm.
The event which has been set up to try and introduce a Women's Rugby Team based in Rhayader has received plenty of publicity but today's announcement is certainly the cherry on the top of the cake.
Jackie, who lives just outside nearby Llandrindod Wells, is said to be delighted with the opportunity to get involved and is keen to make the evening informal and fun with the key emphasis on learning the basics.
Rhayader RFC are delighted to be able to bring in someone with the calibre of Jackie and it will certainly give the more ambitious Women something to aspire to.
The news of the evening has indeed spread like wildfire with offers of help coming from both Powys Women's Rugby Teams Welshpool and Gwernyfed, Cardiff Blues Women's Rugby Officer and it is the lead sport story in at least one of the three main local newspapers.
Any women aged 16 or over are more than welcome to the evening.
