Rhayader end four game winless streak to climb three places in Division 7 East.
Rhayader ran in 13 unanswered points against the team from Barry Island and end a barrren run of four straight defeats.
A win against the team second from bottom was considered crucial although this game was anything but one sided.
Things were looking good from the off with Rhayader were able to recall long term absentees Matt Flat Boore, Gav Rees, Jack Jerman and John Foster whilst Gary Pritchard returned from his broken knee cap. Jamie Naylor stepped up to scrum half to fill in for New Zealand bound Jack Quarterman and James Luty continued to fill in at second row for the injured Nathan Hammond.
Rhayader's very own try machine Mike Cameron scored the only try of the game, his 10th of the season, which was converted by John Foster. Foster also kicked two penalties which kept the score board ticking over as the away side grew in confidence as the game went on.
The final 10 minutes saw Rhayader with their backs to the wall. Superb tackling and team work kept the away side out and the one occasion the Seasiders looked certain to score, a fantastic interception from the cool headed Jordan Phillips meant The South Walians went home empty handed.
Next up for Rhayader is a home friendly against Newtowns Green Army on a March 16th with a 2pm kick off.
